Wise Man Thoughts About Sokolov’s Teghut Deal

September 01, 2026

A well-informed and brave man — Mkrtich Karapetyan, an Armenian Service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) journalist who has been investigating the flow of foreign capital into Armenia, once said, in a DW article titled “Russian-American heads Trump’s planned Caucasus trade route”:

“Sokolov wanted to avoid a direct deal with the Russian bank.”

Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) was the first to publish the milestone news about the Teghut deal:

  1. April 23, 2026 — Russian Bank Selling Armenian Mining Giant (Mkrtich Karapetyan)
  2. July 13, 2026 — Russian Bank Completes Sale Of Armenian Mining Giant (Mkrtich Karapetyan)
  3. July 17, 2026 — Armenian Mining Giant Bought By U.S. Firm(Mkrtich Karapetyan)

As the deal was already settled in two phases — first phase (debt purchase) in June 2026, second phase (shares purchase) in July 2026 — the time had come to make some fantasy on this matter.

Stay tuned this Thursday, September 3, 2026.

PS: 40+ days have passed since the deal closed — and still no update on the Real Owners Declaration following the change of control. Check TEGHUT BO Declaration here: https://e-register.moj.am/en/companies/39193721/declarations/7c9191c2-1273-451e-bc28-b0545abc029c.
